Recently Divi announced that is has introduced AI for layouts. They call it: Divi AI for Layouts or Divi’s AI Layout Generator.
When you do a search for people’s experience’s there isn’t much public commentary. It is mainly articles from those who say how great it is because they are an affiliate and they get paid to promote Divi. And also some older reviews saying the great things that are to come.
Recently, in April 2024, in a private Divi group, a poster asked what people think of DIVI’s AI engine. I have copied and posted the answers below. For privacy, I have displayed only initials of the surnames. Also I have removed the comments about the text generated AI, to keep it relevant to design and layouts only.
So far there have been 11 responses. I will add more reviews as they come in.
Has anyone subscribed to Divi AI? Did you like it? Was it worth it?
Honestly, I’m waiting for Divi 5’s release before I invest anything more into Divi.

I just tried it again… this time to see what layouts it would create / suggest.
It’s pretty awful.

Big Divi fan, but the AI has been disappointing. Would not recommend it in its current state.

The worst product ever.
Glad I got my refund. I prompted to add a simple animation, but in answer returned with a CSS property: background: #000;
Same results for many other prompts. Seems totally stupid.
That is just extra bloat on a bloated builder itself. Don’t know if Divi5 can change anything but that too is an illusion in itself. Yet Hype only.
That is just a money making machine for ET nothing else and they have forgotten that they are are a site builder company.
It is generating 4MB image in your WordPress Library which should be just 40KB. And don’t ask me about image quality and details. They have nothing to do with that. Rest you can browse group older post about AI images. You will never ever take it seriously.
Designing your site with “Divi AI” is like farming on mars. Possible but there will be huuuuge “but…”.

It made some good CTA’s for me and every once in a while gets a good hero header. But it’s not the best but if you have a lot of time on your hands you can make it do what you want.

As for now it’s not worth it. I tried to get a dark mode layout out of it. An it made a light layout. It’s not following prompts at all… the picture that were added for a Business Coach website were pictures of squirrels… yes, you read that right.
For the testimony section it added pictures of a women with a male name and viceversa. I could go on. We will see what the future brings.

Yes, and no. Used it a few times and it doesn’t work the way I needed it to. Haven’t used it much since.

Not fond of the Divi AI for layouts

While I don’t use the free Divi layouts, I wanted to try the AI DIVI layout generator to see what it was capable of. After it was done creating the page, I wasn’t impressed.
Whether the free Divi layout library or Divi AI generated layouts, I find the design creativity, sorely lacking. I don’t like it when you can immediately tell that “this is a Divi design.” So many of the novice website designers that use these layouts for ACTUAL paid client projects have that problem.
The clients may not know better, which is why so many novice web design builders are using them to try to make quick money. But it does a great disservice to the clients’ end result.
I’ve always found a clean from scratch web design that is uniquely tailored for each of my client projects generates a much more professionally finished result that is way more profitable.

I expect it has its place and for some things and some users it will be useful. But the time and the effort required to get it to provide anything worthwhile seems completely disproportionate to someone who is used to building straight from there imagination. It also doesn’t seem to understand any sort of context in relation to extending a current design, especially when it picks up a corporate logo and produces a mangled version of it, sitting in sections and rows that bear zero resemblance to the content it is supposed to be capable of extending. Things will no doubt improve, but for now, unless you want to just produce ‘something’ that doesn’t require the use of a corporate look – it’s easier (IMHO) to use traditional skills.

I subscribed when it first came out, then cancelled. I subscribed again the other day to try the layouts. I’m pretty underwhelmed to be honest. It’s not very good.

Agree with everyone. I use Gemini or Jasper to construct the custom CSS when its needed. Both of these give complete answers. DIVI AI would produce unusable (did not work) code. Gave up.
